A quintet of Kilsyth Basketball representatives wrapped up a massive week at the U20 Australian Junior Championships in Gosford, NSW, leading Victoria to a trio of Gold Medals.

 

Kilsyth junior Josh Kunen and SEABL newcomer Sean MacDonald led the Victorian Men to Gold, as they defeated South Australia, 72-59, in the Men’s Grand Final. Kunen and MacDonald were key contributors for the Victorian’s throughout the course of the tournament, with Kunen leading the team and ranking third in the nation for rebounding (9.0rpg), while MacDonald led the team in scoring at 12.7 points per game.

 

SEABL Lady Cobra Chelsea D’Angelo led the Victorian Women to a 6-1 week, helping avenge an earlier loss to Queensland by taking down their northern counterparts, 72-62, in the Women’s Gold Medal Game. D’Angelo was a standout for the Victorian Women, leading the team in scoring and finishing seventh overall in scoring at 13.6 points per game.

 

Kate Leckenby and Danni Phillips led the charge for the Ivor Burge Women, with their 88-71 Grand Final victory capping a perfect 6-0 week. Leckenby and Phillips combined to average over 26 points per game with the IB Women.
