The Kilsyth Cobras have bolstered their perimeter depth for 2017, signing Alex Vanrenen, Kieran Murphy, Dan Tomada and Tariq Naqqash for the upcoming SEABL season.

Vanrenen and Murphy will return to the Cobras, both having played key roles this past season for Kilsyth as they narrowly missed out on a postseason berth. Vanrenen provided the Cobras with a versatile, physical defensive presence, while his ability to score off the dribble should fit new Head Coach Justin Schueller’s offensive system. Murphy enters his third full season with the Cobras, giving Kilsyth solid production both as a starter and reserve as a stretch-four in 2016.

Tomada re-joins the Cobras following a season away from the club, giving Kilsyth a quick, change-of-pace point guard with the ability to bury the perimeter jumper. Naqqash returns to Kilsyth for the first time since 2011, following stops in the Big-V and SEABL. The well travelled veteran guard has the ability to catch fire in a hurry, giving the Cobras a deep range threat to compliment the inside presence of Auryn Macmillan and Chris Patton and the slashing ability of import guard Nelson Kirksey.

Schueller is pleased with the Cobras most recent crop of signings, which will give his team stability and veteran experience off the bench for the season ahead.

"It's great to be able to bring back Kieran and Alex from last year’s team and also have Tariq and Dan come back to the club after some time away,” Schueller said.

"Each adds a key part to the total picture of how we want to play and compliment our other key signings.”

"I think we will have a really deep team next season which will go along way to us achieving our goals.”
