The Lady Cobras have added depth to their backcourt for the 2018 SEABL season, re-signing point guard Jenna Verhoef-Jenkins.

The Mooroolbark Flashes junior gives the Lady Cobras an exciting left handed scoring threat with deep three point range and a high-energy presence in the backcourt. In her first full SEABL season, Verhoef-Jenkins provided a spark off the bench for Kilsyth in 2017, with her work ethic and enthusiasm making her a favourite amongst her Lady Cobras teammates.

“Jenna is always the first player to want to work out in the off-season and she is rewarded for all of her commitment, hard work and team-first attitude with a place in our team for the 2018 season,” Lady Cobras coach Sam Woosnam said.

“We always knew it was going to be hard for Jenna to find a consistent place in the rotation last season because she missed a month whilst overseas, but we are looking forward to seeing what she does with more opportunity next season.”

Verhoef-Jenkins provided a strong change of pace as a backup to fellow guards Jordyn O’Shea and Chantella Perera in 2017, and with O’Shea deciding to take the upcoming season off, Woosnam believes that Verhoef-Jenkins has a chance to contribute and excite in an extended role.

“Jenna is an exciting player to watch with a deadly three-point shot, and I think she will really help us this upcoming season.” Woosnam said.
