Youth Men (1-0) were led by rookie Joel Naburgs with 21 points who have an even spread of scoring behind him with Scott Dixon 20 pts, Cam Johnson 15 pts, Tim Mulhall 12 pts and Glenn Potts with a 12pts, 13rbds double double.

In an impressive first up display by the young Cobras, the Raiders were shell shocked from the opening tip and may have come into the game not expected this level of intensity from the Youth Men.

Coach Rod Popp has been hard at work with his team during the off-season and will be looking to consolidate on their improvements seen in 2007.

Youth Women (0-1) had a tough first up game against a Knox team who have recruited many players to their program.  The young Kilsyth team made up of players who have or are still representing Kilsyth in the Victorian Junior Basketball League put up a tough fight but couldn’t get back after getting down by 26pts at the main break.

Coach Ed Dunstan will be pleased with the character shown in the 2nd half and the young Cobras matched it with the Raiders to be outscored by just 7 in the 2nd half.  Dunstan will also be pleased with the play of 15 year old point guard Jordy O’Shea scored 11 pts in an impressive senior debut.  The Cobras who struggle with a tightly called game by the referees and got into foul trouble also go 11 pts from centre Courtney Healy.

Both Youth Team are in action on the road this weekend as the Youth Men take on Dandenong and the Youth Women travel to Hume City and Diamond Valley for a tough weekend double.
