Hawaii Pacific Women’s Basketball Head Coach Reid Takatsuka announced last Wednesday that Yarra Ranges Kia Kilsyth Cobra Breanna Mackenzie will be joining Hawaii Pacific University in 2014 after signing her National Letter of Intent during the early signing period.

As well as playing in Kilsyth Basketball’s Victorian Youth Championship team in 2013, Mackenzie has had a strong prep career at Box Hill Senior Secondary College earning a spot on the Victorian State Squad in both the U16 and U18 categories. So far this season she is averaging 14 points, 4.1 assists, 3.4 steals and nearly 8 rebounds per contest at Box Hill Senior Secondary College. In her 2013 season with the Yarra Ranges Kia Kilsyth Cobras she averaged 10 points, 2.1 assists, 2 steals and 4 rebounds per game.

Takatsuka discussed his first commitment for 2014 saying, "I’m very excited about signing another Australian to our team. Breanna’s athleticism and physical style of play fits well into the style we play here at HPU.  She’ll be a great addition to our program. "
