Payne was electrocuted in a workplace accident in February 2008 forcing him to miss the entire 2008 Season as he recovered.  After suiting up against Albury early in 2009 he has decided to step away from the game to get his body right.

Coach Grant Wallace had nothing but praise for Payne, “In the context of the year we have had, Chris has achieved more than any other player just too simply get back on the floor.”

“He wants to get into the gym and improve his fitness with the aim of getting back into the fold in 2010.”

“It was so pleasing for the entire Kilsyth Basketball community to see Chris return to the floor in Albury, there were definite synergies with Jason McCartney’s return to the Kangaroos in the AFL a few years back.”

The Cobras will return to the floor this coming Saturday night travelling to Dandenong to take on the Rangers from 7.30pm.
