Kilsyth went out in this game knowing there season was on the line, playing with a passion which could have got the win.  Joe Werner (24pts & 16rbds) and Gerard Leonard (33pts) led the Cobras early and helped to build a comfortable 13 pt half time lead.

Brad Nuckles (30pts, 20rbds) was doing most of the damage for the Thunder but Werner managed to contain him in the first half while staying out of foul trouble. After being forced to rest with foul trouble in the 3rd and 4th terms Nuckles exploded at the offensive end and on the boards.

Gerard Leonard’s points dried up in the 3rd term as NW Tasmania put on the clamps holding Kilsyth to just 11 pts for the term.  Lee McGaffin (32pts, 6/10 3pt) caught fire during the 3rd hitting five consecutive 3 point baskets to remove the 15 point deficit.

Kilsyth couldn’t recover as the Thunder piled on 31-11 in the third to go into the final term up 4.  Despite looking to get back in the match on numerous occasions the Cobras couldn’t get the margin back under 7 and with Werner forced to sit with foul trouble Nuckles took over.

Kilsyth return home next Saturday night for a crucial match up with finals rivals the Australian Institute of Sport.  The AIS team is made up of the best young players in the Country and a great opportunity to see Marty Clarke and his team go through their paces against the Club Kilsyth Cobras.
