The Kilsyth Cobras haves re-signed point guard Kara Tessari for the 2020 NBL1 season.

Tessari returns to Kilsyth for a second season, having played a key role on the Cobras championship-winning team in 2019. The 20 year-old excelled for Cobras in 2019, leading the team in assists (3.4apg) and three pointers made (2.3 3FG) – good for eighth in the league – while ranking fourth on the team in scoring (10.7ppg). More importantly, Tessari came up huge in the postseason, scoring 16 points to help lead Kilsyth to the NBL1 championship game, following that up with a nine-point, eight-assist, five-steal performance over Geelong as the Cobras claimed the league’s inaugural title.

The 5’4 point guard recoded season-highs of 23 points and seven three-pointers in an April 28 home win over Melbourne, while her 10 assists in the Cobras Ashes-clinching victory over rivals Knox in Round 10 were a team best in 2019.

With the Cobras building a culture of unselfishness and success in 2019 – led by head coach Sam Woosnam – Tessari’s decision to return to Kilsyth for the 2020 season was a no-brainer.

“Coming back to Kilsyth for the NBL1 2020 season was such an obvious decision for me; I loved everything about last season,” Tessari said.

“It was a bonus we won the championship, but being able to come back and play under Sam for another season and being around the club is something that is really special, and I cannot wait to be back and get started.”

Tessari will join the Cobras at the conclusion of the 2019/20 WNBL season, where she is currently completing her third season with the Bendigo Spirit.
