Belinda was presented with Swinburne University Lilydale’s first Deans Scholarship for 2011.

Swinburne University Lilydale is the Principal Partner of Kilsyth Basketball and it is truly exciting to see one of our own studying at such a great university.

Belinda obtained her VCE at Ringwood Secondary College in 2010 and is undertaking a Bachelor of Business degree majoring in Accounting. Belinda chose this degree as she is interested in having an accounting career and attaining professional qualifications including CA. She did well in accounting at school and the degree is a natural progression of her studies in her chosen field.

Belinda is a keen student and received Academic Excellence awards in every year at Ringwood Secondary College. At secondary college Belinda was selected as a Kwong Lee Dow Scholar as part of the Melbourne University program for high achieving  secondary school students from around Victoria. However, at the end of VCE she chose Swinburne Lilydale as her preferred university, being so close to her home in Kilsyth.

Belinda has been playing Basketball for Kilsyth since under 10’s for the Fosters Phantoms and currently plays under 18A as well as representing the Kilsyth Cobras in the Girls under 20 side.

For such a young age Belinda has had an extremely successful Basketball career having played in 22 premierships including a Victorian Junior Basketball League title as well as three premierships for her high school.

Belinda recently returned from a successful basketball tour of the west coast of the USA, where her team played against local high school teams in: Alaska. Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Belinda attributes her success to her hard work and the support that she receives from her family and friends. She also believes that her involvement in sport provides her with a proper life balance – a true testament to the partnership between Kilsyth Basketball and Swinburne University Lilydale.

Everyone at Kilsyth Basketball would like to wish Belinda all the best for Season 2011 with the Kilsyth Cobra U/20 girls side and for her studies at Swinburne University Lilydale, are confident that this young woman has an extremely bright future ahead of her.
