The McDonald’s® Community Basketball Day aims to introduce the Community to the great game of basketball and encourage new players to participate.  Eight of the junior domestic clubs were in attendance at the event which allowed new players to sign up to teams for the 2010 Winter Season. The Winter Season for both junior and seniors will begin in April.

With the support provided by the junior domestic clubs at this event, it will enable Kilsyth Basketball to grow this into a bigger and better McDonald’s® Community Basketball Day in October 2010.  With so many sporting options available to young people the McDonald’s® Community Basketball Day is just another way of encouraging people to participate in basketball.

Swinburne Kilsyth Cobras import Fernandez Lockett was excited by the number of children involved in the day.  “Basketball is a great sport and events like this showcase basketball to the community.  I hope all children in the community will become involved in this great game”, he said prior to his SEABL match against the Canberra Gunners.

With work on the two court redevelopment at the Kilsyth Sports Centre beginning on Monday 12 April 2010, it has never been a better time to get involved in basketball.  The new courts will make the Kilsyth Sports Centre a six court venue capable of hosting junior domestic games, VJBL representative games as well as State and National tournaments.

Congratulations also goes to WOW, Black and Blue and Globetrotters who all won $100 cash for winning their section of the 3 on 3 tournament. Make sure you get your entry in early for the October 3 on 3 tournament.
