On Saturday night the Swinburne Kilsyth Cobras took on the Mt Gambier Pioneers on the Hugh McMenamin Court at the Kilsyth Sports Centre.

Coming off a win at home the weekend before, the Swinburne Cobras were keen to keep up their form; however it was going to be against some stiff competition, with the Pioneers coming off a convincing win the night before, beating Canberra at home, 111 – 75.

In a tough game, Mt Gambier took the lead early, with the Swinburne Cobras going into half time trailing by 11 points. The boys fought back hard in the third, and went into the final turn with both teams on 51.

In a strongly contested final quarter, the Kilsyth Cobras gave it their all, however it wasn’t enough, with Mt Gambier taking the win 76 – 68.

A standout for the game was Auryn MacMillan with 24 point and 10 rebounds, playing his second game for the season, after finishing his NBL season with Wollongong. He was well supported by Tim Lang who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds.
