As many of the Kilsyth Basketball community and the local community in general are aware, Josh Allison played many, many years in all levels of Kilsyth Basketball domestic and representative competitions and represented our Association with the Kilsyth Cobras men for many years in the South East Australian Basketball League.

Josh was involved in an unfortunate accident in early October 2011 and as a result he has broken his back, damaged his spinal cord and is now a paraplegic. Josh will now require a wheelchair specific for his needs (which will need to be upgraded every 5-6 years), major renovations to his family home and to purchase a new vehicle which will be required to be converted to suit his abilities. In conjunction Josh will also require ongoing medical and living expenses.

Unfortunately the majority of these expenses are not covered by insurance which comes at a huge cost to Josh and his family.

To help Josh get on with the future the ‘The Josh Allison Fundraiser – Sportsman’s Cocktail Night’ will be held at Club Kilsyth on Sunday 4 March 2012 from 7pm. The night is set to be one of the year’s ‘not to be missed’ events with a long list of sporting personalities already confirmed to be in attendance including Andrew Gaze, Michelle Timms, Glenn Archer and Damien Monkhurst.

Thanks to the valued support of Knox Basketball and in particular Knox Basketball’s CEO Wayne Carroll, in a huge coup for the event Sam Kekovich and Leon Weigard have confirmed that they shall MC the night. Tickets are just $50 which includes entry, cocktail food and live music; all drinks have been donated on the night and will be available at bar prices with all takings added to the end fundraising effort. The night shall see your favourite sports personality being interviewed by Sam & Leon, a golf putting tournament, Basketball guessing game, Character Sketch Portraits as well as a silent auction with a huge range of donated goods available.

A big ticket auction shall also occur on the night under the guidance of Bob Appleby of Appleby Real Estate who shall auctioning of some truly unbelievable items including Your Dream Garden designed and landscaped which has been proudly donated by Candeo Design and Semken Landscaping.

Josh shall be present on the night and is looking forward to catching up with as many of his friends, family and community supporters as he can. All proceeds raised from the event shall be going straight to Joshua Allison as he continues his journey to recovery.
