Swinburne Kilsyth Cobras are pleased to announce the re-signing of starting trio Tim Lang, Matt O’Hea and Auryn Macmillan. O’Hea, Lang and Macmillan have been firm fixtures at the club for a number of years, and in the 2013 SEABL season, players will be looking to them for guidance in what is sure to be a stellar year for the group. In re-signing these three players, the Cobras have secured their starting Shooting Guard, Forward and Centre, assuring them of a solid core group for their 2013 season.

O’Hea is happy to be back in the side after finishing off the 2012 season in spectacular style. He was fantastic defensively, finishing 4th in the League in “Defensive Player of the Year voting”. Unfortunately the year didn’t culminate in quite the way that he was hoping, with the Swinburne Cobras having a disappointing end to the season. O’Hea is “keen to get back on the court with some familiar faces as well as some new ones”. One of these new faces will be Tiri Masunda who is coming to the Swinburne Kilsyth Cobras from the Hobart Chargers, where he has played 119 SEABL games. Matt is confident that 2013 season is going to be a successful one for the Swinburne Cobras.

Lang and Macmillan will once again pull on the Kilsyth Cobras jersey after also coming off great 2012 seasons with Macmillan stating that he is “excited to be playing with a bunch of really talented guys”. He “believes that the Swinburne Cobras “quality deep roster will be hard to beat”. Macmillan had a breakout year in 2012 with the Swinburne Cobras forward shooting 58.8% from the floor, coming 9th in the league for blocked shots per game, and posting a career high in points and rebounds per game for the season. This led to his signing with Wollongong Hawks in the 2012/2013 NBL season.

The Swinburne Kilsyth Cobras officially commence their preseason in mid-January 2013 with head coach Grant Wallace keen to see them “in top shape” for their season opener on 17 March 2013. Wallace has put together a great line up for the upcoming SEABL season and feels confident that the hard work the boys are putting in will pay off.
