Box Score

Fernandez Lockett (27pts, 11rbds) was outstanding for the Swinburne Cobras while Quincy Henderson renewed his rivalry with CJ Massingale holding Knox’s explosive scorer to just 14 points on 5/16 shooting.

Like the earlier game of the night, Knox got off to a fast start and forced Kilsyth to play from behind. The Raiders went on a 9-0 run to open the game before Tim Lang (18pts, 10rbds) made the Swinburne Cobras first bucket after more than three minutes of play.

Cam Rigby (20pts) hit a three to extend the lead to 10 and that is where it remained for the majority of the opening term as Kilsyth struggled to score.

Trailing 21-12 at quarter time, Knox extended the lead to 14 mid way through the second quarter before Swinburne Cobras rookie Glenn Potts nailed a three with his first shot in the SEABL to change the momentum.

Kilsyth went on a 18-4 run to close out the half and went into the long break with scores tied. Kilsyth continued the surge in the third term going on a 16-0 run to open the quarter, as a shell shocked Raiders team was left stratching their heads.

Knox were never going to lay down and went on a 15-2 run of their own to reduce the margin to three at the final change. Tim Lang was dominant inside against Lester Strong (11pts, 6rbds) and extended the Cobras lead back to nine mid way through the final term.

The game looked safe after Lockett hit two free throws with one minute remaining but a three from Rigby and free throws from John Phillip saw the margin back to five.

Two missed free throws from Matt O’Hea gave the Raiders a final sniff but Ryan Bathie iced the game from the line in the final seconds to give the Swinburne Cobras their second win of the season.

The win ensured the Cystic Fibrosis Cup was returning to Kilsyth following the Lady Cobras six point win.

The Swinburne Cobras take on the Albury Sunday 21 March 2010 at 2.30pm before returning home again on Saturday 27 March to face reigning champions Brisbane at 8.15pm.
