Saturday night saw the return match between the Swinburne Kilsyth Lady Cobras and the 2010 SEABL champions the Dandenong Lady Rangers; unfortunately for Kilsyth they could not make it two from two going down by 14 points, 71-57.

The first quarter saw Dandenong take an early lead after making three of six 3 pointers and shooting at 62.5% FG, to put Kilsyth six points behind (47%FG). The second quarter saw the Swinburne Lady Cobras regroup and take control of the play to pull back the lead to just three points going into half time.

In front of a large home crowd, Kilsyth matched it with Dandenong for the full third quarter but were still unable to pull back the lead squaring the quarter at 13 all and still trailing by three points going into the last.

The Swinburne Lady Cobras were without Abby Bishop and Gemma Kerr for the game and the affect was seen in the last quarter with Kilsyth seeming to tire after matching it with Dandenong for the majority of the match. After managing to take the lead in the opening couple of minutes of the last it looked as if Kilsyth were full of running and were going to take it to the 2010 SEABL champions for the second time this season however it was not to be with the Dandenong’s Amelia Todhunter scoring 12 of her 26 points in the last quarter.

Chantella Perera (17pts, 5 rbds) and Hayley Moffatt (17pts, 5rbds) and Eva Afeaki (10pts, 16rbds) led the scoring for Kilsyth but in the end Dandenong made seven of their 14 three point attempts compared to just three from nine for the Swinburne Lady Cobras.

This Saturday night sees the Swinburne Lady Cobras come up against Ballarat at home in what will be another tight and challenging contest.

The Swinburne Kilsyth Lady Cobras take on the Ballarat next Saturday night June 18 on Hugh McMenamin Court – Tip Off is 6:15pm
