It was a disappointing weekend all round for the Swinburne Kilsyth Cobras as they took on the Knox Raiders at the State Basketball Centre for the Cystic Fibrosis Cup.

The Swinburne Kilsyth Lady Cobras  trailed for most of Sunday’s  game but the girls came back fighting in the final quarter scoring 17 – 11. Unfortunately it was too late for the Swinburne Lady Cobras and they were defeated by Knox 62 – 51.

Carley Mijovic was the stand out for the game scoring 15 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in her first outing as a Swinburne Lady Cobras.

In the Men’s game, the Swinburne Kilsyth Cobras played an exciting and hard fought match against the Raiders, with both teams neck and neck throughout the entire match. The Kilsyth Cobras fought hard in the final quarter, and in the dying seconds of the game had a shot at goal which could have given them the win, sadly however it wasn’t to be, with boys going down to Knox 76 – 75.

Without the leadership of Matt O’Hea who sat on the sidelines with a leg injury, EJ Kusnyer played at fantastic game with 24 points and 7 rebounds, a fierce contestant against Knox import CJ Massingale. Tiri Masunda also played another good game with 16 points and 5 rebounds.

Both teams now have a week off over Easter to regroup, refocus and come back ready to fight hard in our first home games of the SEABL season against Albury Wodonga on Saturday April 6th.  Ladies tip off is at 6.15pm with Men’s at 8.00pm.

We hope to see you at the game cheering on our Swinburne Cobras!
