Tariq played the 2009 SEABL Season with the Mount Gambier Pioneers averaging 13.2 points and 2.9 rebounds a match. Naqqash then spent last year with the Ballarat Miners, averaging 15.6 points a game, shooting at almost 50% accuracy.

Naqqash admits that he wasn’t searching for a club to play with in Season 2011, but was thrilled when he got the call up from Cobras Head Coach, Grant Wallace. “I’m getting married this year so was happy just training down at Dandenong, then I got the call from Grant and I’m just really excited about being able to play basketball at SEABL level in 2011”.

“It’s such a fantastic opportunity being able to play with a club like Kilsyth, and I’m really happy to be here, Kilsyth is more professional outfit than other SEABL sides and they expect a lot more dedication from their players”

“I’m here to do whatever is needed of me, last year I was third in the league for 3 pointers and I know that with my up-court and defensive pressure I can really add something to the team”, Tariq concluded.

Swinburne Cobras Head Coach, Grant Wallace is very happy to have picked up a player of Tariq’s experience and abilities this late the Cobras 2011 Season preparation “Tariq provides us another quality scoring option with Matt O’Hea, Quincy and Zach and on the defensive end greater versatility and depth.”

“Tariq started training with the squad this week and I have been impressed with what he has brought to the table, he did play here some eight or nine years ago in our D League men’s team and we are very excited he has returned home” Wallace concluded.

The Swinburne Cobras start their 2011 SEABL campaign tonight at 8pm against arch Rivals the Knox Raiders at Knox. They then travel down the road to Dandenong on Sunday at 2pm to take on the Rangers.
