Coach Richardson an Assistant Coach at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University, whose team made the prestigious NCAA tournament and includes future Australia Star Andrew Ogilvy, is a renowned shooting coach and took the coaches through the important teaching points and mechanics of shooting as well as some individual and team shooting drills.
Coach Waugh, one of the youngest Head Coaches in NCAA division 1 basketball, whose team finished with a 16-16 record including 11-5 in conference, also coaches former Kilsyth Cobra Graeme Radford and Australian Tim Lang. Covering post play, Coach Waugh’s session intrigued the coaches in attendance. He took them through a series of drills to assist all post players not only with post moves, but rebounding and shooting.
Kilsyth Basketball Director of Coaching Rod Popp who organized the clinic thanked both coaches for the visit, “Tom and Derek both had excellent clinic presentations. It was great to for our coaches to be able to get hear their expertise first hand. It was also great to see the clinic so well received with over 90 coaches in attendance.”
Notes for this clinic as well as other coaching resources are available in the teaching section of the Kilsyth Basketball website under the heading basketball.
