The Kilsyth Workforcexs Cobras started the season off right by getting a win at home against Frankston Blues.

Adam Knott played a major role in both stats and leadership in helping the  Kilstyh get their first win of the season.  He score 15 points, had 8 rebounds and 7 assists; leading the Cobras in each catagory.

Stephen O’Brien and Josh Flink rounded out the other top scorers for the Workforcexs Cobras with 14 and 12 respectively. The balanced attack by the Kilsyth was too much for the Blues to handle.

The Blues started well taking an early lead, but the Cobras eventually found their rhythm and the quarter closed even at 14 a piece.

In the second quarter the Cobras managed to take the lead, but the Blues fought back to take a one point lead at the half.

In the third quarter the Blues held onto their lead only to have a late three point shot  by Arjen Smit (5 pts, 1 blk) following a missed free throw give the Cobras a four point lead heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter the Cobras didn’t give their lead up for the entire quarter, repeling Frankston’s surge to guarantee their first victory at home.

The Kilsyth Workforcexs Lady Cobras suffered a tough loss at home to the Frankston Lady Blues

Despite the tough play of Caragh Spicer (10 pts, 3 stls) the Lady Cobras couldn’t manage to win their home opener.

The Workforcexs Lady Cobras came out a little sluggish unlike the Lady Blues who started out strong and ended the quarter with a one point lead.

The Workforcexs Lady Cobras came back in the second term to take a one point lead at the half behind the strong play of Kate Ebzery (10 pts, 8 rebs) and Rebekah O’Donnell (13 pts, 8 rebs).

The Lady Cobras found themselves down by seven at one point towards the end the third quarter but fought their way back to go into the final change trailing 47-45.

The Lady Blues finished the final quarter off strong fending off any push the Lady Cobras could manage eventually winning 66-57.

The Kilsyth Workforcexs Cobras will  take on Ballarat at home next Saturday night 17 April 2010 with the women tipping off at 6.15pm followed by the men at 8.15pm.
