Swinburne Kilsyth Cobras vs Nunawading Spectres
7.30pm – Hugh McMenamin Court (Kilsyth Sports Centre)

The win improved the Cobras record to 2-3 while the Spectres are yet to win a game in 2009 sitting of 0-5 on the bottom of the South ladder.  Despite the record the Cobras cannot take the Spectres lightly, as the team, coached by former NBA and LA Lakers star Sedale Threat, has plenty of weapons.  Former Cobras and Geelong Supercat Brad Bridgewater will line up for Nunawading as will former NBL players Shane McDonald, David Donaldson and Paul Flynn. 

Kilsyth will be looking to make it two straight wins with Joe Werner (14.8ppg, 12.6rpg) leading the way.  After a slow start to the season Werner finished with 25 pts and 17 rbds in the Cobras win over Albury.

Gerard Leonard, who has also started the season slowly, found his range from behind the arc with 4/6 shooting on his way to 18 pts for the game. The Cobras faithful will be keen for Leonard to continue his hot hand against the Spectres.

With some of the team struggling early in the season Cobras veteren Adam Jackson has stood up averaging 14 ppg through the opening 5 games.  Jackson will again be called on to ignite the team and Coach Grant Wallace will be hoping his early form from behind the 3 point line will continue.  Jackson is shooting at 57% frm long range.

Tip off is scheduled for 7.30pm for the School Holiday Special.  Let’s fill the stands  and support the Swinburne Cobras in this local derby.

The Cobras will also be welcoming families from some of the regions fire affect schools to the game on Wednesday Night.  Families from Chum Creek, Toolangi, Dixons Creek, St Andrews and Christmas Hills Primary Schools have been invited to support the Cobras against Nunawading following a series of clinics at their schools.
