SEABL Women Game of the Week – SEABL Preview

Kilsyth produced a poor game last week in Brisbane but return home confident they can turn things around and defeat ladder leaders Launceston this week.  Kilsyth secured a 73-70 victory against Launceston in round 10 and with home court advantage should beat a Cambage less Launceston squad again this week.

Erica McMenamin will tie Chelsea Laing for most games played in a Kilsyth uniform this week when she plays her 244th game for her beloved Swinburne Lady Cobras.  McMenamin has missed a majority of the season due to a broken finger, but her impact off the bench is a crucial element for the Swinburne Lady Cobras. McMenamin is a tenacious defender and gives coach Cheryl Chambers a quality option off the bench to contain the Tornadoes Sharin Milner (16.6pts, 4.1rebs, 5.2ass). 

A lot will be expected of Milner to guide Launceston to victory in the absence of Australian Opal Liz Cambage.  Milner has averaged 22pts, 5rebs and 5ass in the four games Cambage hasn’t played this season and Sharin will be required to produce another quality individual performance this week if the Tornadoes are to secure the win.

Former Swinburne Lady Cobra Sarah Parsons will return to Kilsyth for the first time and will need to be contained at the offensive end as will another Kilsyth Championship player in Desiree Glaubitz.

The game will tip off at 6.15pm.

Swinburne Cobras Preview

The Swinburne Cobras enter this match on a three game winning streak and after defeating Brisbane on the road last week, they are building momentum at the right time of the season.

Kilsyth will take on NW Tasmania who are still pushes for a finals berth in the South Conference and must win every remaining game to get into post season action.  The Thunder was also on a three game win streak until Knox defeated them at home last week.

The Thunder had the best of Kilsyth back in round 1, with Kilsyth missing O’Hea, Lang and Bathie while NW Tasmania were without Dowdell and Shawntes Gary. 

The Swinburne Cobras require two more wins to lock in second place but will be looking to win all their remaining games in an attempt to knock Bendigo for top spot.

The game will tip off at 8.15pm.
