Cobras sign young PG star, Haylee Andrews

Andrews joins the Cobras following an impressive end to the WNBL season, where she played a key role in helping the Southside Flyers secure a postseason berth. The former Portland University standout saw a big uptick in minutes to close the regular season and playoffs, averaging 4.0 assists per game over the final five games of the season as she flashed glimpses of elite playmaking and leadership. The 5’10 point guard’s ability to light it up from deep, finish at the rim, and pass at a high level saw her trusted in big time moments during the postseason; but after all, big games are nothing new to the Cobras newest recruit.
Andrews enjoyed an excellent 2024 NBL1 campaign with the Sandringham Sabres, averaging 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest, and averaged near-identical numbers the season prior with the Sunshine Coast Phoenix in the NBL1 North. But it was her time in the US collegiate system where Andrews truly honed her craft and developed an impressive blend of playmaking, scoring and leadership, as she established herself as a dominant force in the West Coast Conference (WCC) with the Portland Pilots over five highlight-filled seasons.
Andrews finished her collegiate career as a three-time All-WCC conference member, one-time WCC All-Tournament Team, five-time WCC Player of the Week, and even netted herself a National Player of the Week award in 2021. Her scoring and assists numbers are littered through the Pilots school history books, and over her final four seasons, her assists numbers were amongst the most in all of college basketball. Simply put: Andrews was one of the NCAA’s top point guards for not one, but four consecutive seasons, and has the numbers to back it.
Now joining Kilsyth following a pair of promising WNBL campaigns and standout NBL1 seasons, Andrews crafty point guard play and ability to elevate those around her is set to lift the Cobras back to postseason contention.
