Cobras land NBL 6th Man of the Year, Angus Glover

Glover joins Kilsyth following a standout NBL season with the SE Melbourne Phoenix, averaging a career-high 10.4 points per game to go along with 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest. The sharpshooter was electric from deep, ranking amongst the NBL’s leaders in three point makes (2.2 per game) and percentage (37%), and drained 5+ triples on five different occasions, including a career-best eight makes against the Illawarra Hawks on October 18.
Not limited to a knock-down shooter, Glover’s all-around game was on full display, with his ability to create for others, slash to the rim, and disrupt on the defensive end not only helping the Phoenix clinch a playoff berth, but earning him the league’s Sixth Man of the Year award in the process. At the core Glover’s diverse skillset is a killer mentality and knack for rising up in the clutch, with the lefty wing making some huge plays for the Phoenix when it mattered most.
The clutch gene is deeply ingrained in Glover; prior to his time at Phoenix, he had some incredible finals moments with the Sydney Kings, helping lead them to back-to-back NBL titles in 2022 and 2023 highlighted by a gutsy grand final performance in the deciding Game 5 in 2023. At an NBL1 level, Glover led the Eltham Wildcats to a NBL1 South championship in 2024, headlined by his dramatic game-winning three pointer in the preliminary final, and a postseason shooting display for the ages; draining 28 triples over four playoff games.
Glover now brings his energy, toughness, and elite level shooting to a Cobra group that is in the thick of the NBL1 South playoff hunt, entering the weekend with a 7-5 record. Glover will look to fill the void left by a number of key Cobras, with 2025 team MVP Dillon Stith, veteran wing Corey Jeffs, and promising young guard Macauley Haig each set to miss an extended period of time due to injury. But with Glover in the fold, the Kilsyth backcourt is set to be as dangerous as they come, as the Cobras look to return to playoff basketball for the second straight season.
