Young re-signs; set to elevate game to lefty heights in 2026

The Kilsyth junior was a standout for the Cobras once again in 2025, ranking second on the team in scoring (13.9ppg), assists (2.4apg), steals (1.6spg), and three-point makes (28 3PM), despite battling through a number of lingering injuries. Young eclipsed the 20 point mark on four occasions, including a pair of spectacular 28 point performances against the Eltham Wildcats (Round 6) and Waverley Falcons (Round 12). Her masterful performance against the Falcons was one of the best performances of her young career to date, as she led the Cobras to a stunning road victory over the reigning national champions, proving that she has the polish and grit to match it with the league - and nations - best.
With five years of exceptional NBL1 play to her name, Young was finally rewarded with a full-time WNBL contract as she inked a deal with the Southside Flyers for the 2025-26 season; having served as a development player for the Flyers the two years prior. Young’s WNBL deal positions her the quintessential Cobra pathway athlete, with the 6’0 slasher starting her hoops journey with the Mt Evelyn Meteors domestic club, progressing through the Junior Cobras and VYC programs before reaching NBL1 stardom, and eventually a contracted position in one of the world’s best women’s competitions.
At just 23 years of age, Young’s upside is endless, with her electric speed on both ends of the court and fearless attack off the bounce set to be a perfect fit for new head coach Emilee Harmon’s up-tempo, fast paced style of play. And with a full-time season in the WNBL, plus a complimentary, new-look roster at Kilsyth, expect Young to elevate her game to lofty heights in 2026.
