The exceptional talent that is on court each week playing in “Australia’s Premier Winter Basketball League” will be rewarded this season as each Player and Coach of the Month receive a Crazy John’s Mobile Phone pack for their efforts.  The July Award takes in account games played during Rounds 16 – 20.

SEABL MEN PLAYER OF THE MONTH

JOE WERNER (Kilsyth Cobras)

Kilsyth Cobras forward/centre Joe Werner has finished the regular season in fine style guiding his team to a 5-1 record for the monthWerner averaged 24.8pts, 14.8rebs and 2ass for the month all above his season average.  Joe has been a dominant presence in the paint all season and finished the regular season with a sensational individual performance at Ballarat with 24pts, 18rebs, 5ass and 2blks in 41mins.  Werner recorded a double double in each game during July and started the month with a 32pt, 26rebs performance in the Cobras 83-75 victory against arch rival Knox.  Werner is a favourite for the MVP award at seasons end and was extremely close to signing with Cairns for the upcoming NBL season.

SEABL MEN COACH OF THE MONTH

GRANT WALLACE (Kilsyth Cobras)

With a 5-1 record for the month, Grant Wallace guided the Cobras into third position on the ladder and earned the right to host a semi final this weekend.  Wallace started the month with an 83-75 victory over arch cross town rivals Knox, but lost his only game for the month the following round with a disappointing 72-85 loss to Frankston.  The Cobras needed to win all four games and hope Knox lost another game to clinch the second position and grab the second chance.  Kilsyth won all four matches including a sensational 97-87 victory over Geelong on the road, but still finished with a 15-12 record and relegated to third position on head to head against Knox.
