The Kilsyth Cobra VYC Men’s and Women’s teams have been announced for the 2022 Big-V season.

The 2022 VYC squads feature a combined 26 current/former Junior Cobra representatives, further highlighting the strength of the Junior Cobra program.

The Cobra Women’s roster features eight returners, headlined by standout veterans Erin Burgoyne, Bella Clark and Miranda Gartner. Mariah Derksen, Gemma Hancock and Caitlyn Groves will anchor a talented front court unit, while Lizzie Tzouvelis, along with rookies Peri Day, Olivia Jennings, Tayja Maki and Summer Thomas, round out a young, exciting backcourt group. Chloe Goring returns as a development player, alongside newcomer Brianna Hans.

The Kilsyth Women will once again be led by head coach Claire Knight – who returns for a fifth season as head coach – and will look to build on a strong 2021 season which saw the Cobras establish themselves as legitimate championship contenders. Knight will be joined by long time assistant Michael Walsh and former junior and SEABL Cobra, Daniel Tomada.

The Cobra Men will be led by talented veterans Brad Heywood, Ben Bara, Dyson Sumsion, Roberto La Morticella and Lachie Vandervorm, who highlight a group of seven returners in 2022. Second year swingman Tom Ghosn will be joined by Josh Heywood and rookies Logan Moran and Seb Kozlowski on the wing, while Tom Carruthers and Tom Galway round out the Cobras front court rotation. Nick Day and Seth McCubbin will serve as development players in 2022.

Zach Moult will lead the Cobra Men for a second season, following a 2021 campaign which saw Kilsyth end the season in playoff contention prior to its cancellation. Former junior and SEABL Cobra Adam Knott and Al McAughtry will return as assistant coaches for the season ahead.

The Cobras tip-off their 2022 regular season at home on Saturday March 19, with the Women playing host to the Melbourne Tigers at 5.30pm, followed by the Men (vs Sandringham Sabres) at 7.30pm.
