High-flying wing Hamish MacDonald has re-signed with the NBL1 Cobras.

MacDonald’s first full-time NBL1 season was a success, with the forward providing a significant boost to the Cobras second unit with his elite athleticism, finishing around the rim, and defensive versatility. The SEBC Saints junior led the Cobras in field goal percentage (57%), and recorded three double-digit scoring outings, highlighted by career-highs of 15 points and ten rebounds in a key road win over the rival Nunawading Spectres.

Oozing with potential, MacDonald’s switchability and disruption on the defensive end, ability to shoot the three, and highlight-reel above-the-rim finishes allows him to flourish at multiple positions, slotting perfectly alongside coach Pete Godfrey’s abundance of ultra-versatile wings. And after a promising 2022 season and an offseason spent as a training player with the NBL’s South East Melbourne Phoenix, all signs are pointing towards a breakout campaign ahead for MacDonald.

“After a full season training with the Phoenix, I’m looking forward to Hamish’s development in his second full season at the NBL1 level,” Godfrey said.

“Hamish has elite athleticism and is quick for the spot he plays. Opportunity presents this season for him to break out, and crack the NBL next season.”
