A huge congratulations to the senior team from Yarra Road Primary School on their victory over Caulfield South Primary School at the State Hooptime Championship on Sunday Night.

The Grade 5/6 boys team played the final as a curtain raiser to the NBL game between the Melbourne Tigers and Townsville Crocodiles at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in front of friends, family, proud teaching staff and members of the general public.

Yarra Road Primary secured the win 20-14 on the back of some excellent work by standout scorer Adam Cerra (14pts). After being down 6-9 at half time, the boys bound together to overcome the deficit and finish strong.

The win capped off a big year for Yarra Road’s senior team with the boys also winning the School Sports Victoria Championships for 2011. This, along with the Hooptime Championship is a huge double achievement for the boys.

Since Hooptime Competitions began in 1997, there have only been four schools to complete the double by winning both Championships in the same year.

Kilsyth Basketball extends its congratulations to Yarra Road Primary School and the team on their fantastic victory! Well done boys!!
