The NBL1 Cobras season schedule has been unveiled for the 2020 season.

With the Cobra Women looking to defend their 2019 NBL1 title and the Men re-tooling for a big start to the new decade, 2020 is shaping up to be a big one for the Cobras. With the recent announcements of the NBL1 North and NBL1 Central conferences joining the competition this season, and a regular season which will be extended to 22 games, 2020 is set to take the NBL1 to new heights as it inches closer to becoming a truly national winter competition.

Saturday April 18 – Season Opener vs Knox Raiders

The Cobras open their 2020 season at home against bitter rivals – the Knox Raiders – in the first of two Battle for the Ashes showdowns.  The Cobras won last year’s instalment of the Ashes following a five year break from the series, with the Men and Women combining to go 3-1 against the Raiders in their four outings.

Saturday April 25 – Championship Rematch at Geelong

The Cobra Women take on the Geelong Supercats in a rematch of the 2019 NBL1 Championship Game in a special ANZAC day showdown.

Saturday May 2 – Junior Domestic Night

The Mt Gambier Pioneers head to town for our annual instalment of Junior Domestic Night. All Kilsyth Junior Domestic players under 18 who wear their club gear receive FREE ENTRY for both games! The Pioneers return to the NBL1 after spending a season in the South Australian Premier League. One of the league’s powerhouse teams over the past decade, this year sees the Pioneers also enter a Women’s team for the first time.

Saturday May 30 – The Ashes Decider

The Ashes winner for 2020 will be decided as the Cobras battle the Raiders once again – this time at the State Basketball Centre – with the winner determined by win-loss record, and point differential as a tiebreaker.

Saturday June 27 – RETRO NIGHT

It’s our biggest night of the NBL1 season – it’s Retro Night! Retro Night sees our Cobra Men and Women rocking special edition throwback Cobra uniforms, highlighting an evening full of classic 80’s and 90’s music, competitions and prizes. All fans are encouraged to rock their best 70’s/80’s/90’s outfits, while our classic Catwalk showdown will run once again during halftime as your Cobras take on the Sandringham Sabres.

Saturday July 11 – Indigenous Round vs Waverley Falcons

The Cobras play host to the Falcons for a special Indigenous Round doubleheader. Last year saw the Cobras wear limited edition jerseys featuring Indigenous inspired artwork, and featured special pregame and halftime performances by the Djirri Djirri dance group, with this year’s version set to take it to the next level.

Saturday August 8 – Regular Season Finale

The 2020 regular season comes to a close as the Cobras play host to the Hobart Chargers. With both the Cobra Men and Women securing top-four finishes in the final round of the season, this one could prove to be key for the Cobras playoff seeding once again.
