The Kilsyth Cobra VYC Men’s and Women’s teams have been announced for the 2023 Big-V season, featuring a combined 24 Junior Cobra representatives.

The Cobra Women’s roster features nine returners, headlined by veterans Bella Clark and Miranda Gartner, who both enjoyed a taste of NBL1 action in 2022. The young guard core of Peri Day, Olivia Jennings, Tayja Maki, Summer Thomas and Elizabeth Tzouvelis return following strong 2022 seasons, while Gemma Hancock and Caitlyn Shannon are back to anchor the frontcourt once again.

Talented U18 Cobras Hannah Day, Jade Grybas, Georgia McBean and Katie Wilson make the jump into senior basketball, while fellow VYC debutants Emmerson Foley, Kayla Murphy and Kiara Shae Ryan-Bader round out the roster of 16.

The Cobra Women will be led by head coach Rick Foley – who makes his VYC debut after serving as an NBL1 assistant coach and Big-V head coach for the past four years. Foley will be joined by long time assistant and current U14-1 Girls head coach, Michael Walsh, on the sidelines.

The Cobra Men’s roster boasts eight returners in 2023. Headlining the backcourt is the veteran trio of Brad Heywood, Ben Bara, and Josh Heywood, with Wyatt Stewart and Isaiah Harvey rounding out a talented guard rotation.

Tom Ghosn, Nick Day, Macauley Haig and Jordan Adams are locked in as the Cobras wings, while the frontcourt features the returning Lachie Vander Vorm and Tom Carruthers, alongside newcomer, Sam Trezise. U18 Cobra Isaac Ghosn will serve as a development player in 2023.

Head coach Zach Moult is back to lead the Cobra Men for a third season, following a successful 2022 campaign which saw the Cobras advance to the VYC Semi Finals. Moult will again be joined by current U20 Cobras head coach and former state and national junior team coach, Al McAughtry, as assistant coach, while U16-1 Boys head coach Ben Ahale will serve as a development coach.

The Cobra Men make their 2023 home debut on Saturday March 25 at 7.30pm, with the Women playing host to the Melbourne Tigers at 5.30pm, followed by the Men (vs Sandringham Sabres) at 7.30pm.
