Defensive specialist Sarah Haberfield has re-signed with the Kilsyth Cobras for the 2024 NBL1 season.

Haberfield was a solid contributor to the Cobras roster in 2023, starting in 20 of 22 regular season games and ranking amongst the team leaders in assists (2.1), steals (1.0) and rebounding (3.3). The SEBC Saints junior recorded a career-high 11 rebounds in Round 2 at home against the Dandenong Rangers – adding a season-best five assists – and followed that with and eight-rebound, four-assist performance the following round against the Sandringham Sabres.

Haberfield has been often tasked with guarding opposing team’s primary scoring options, with her tough, physical brand of defence allowing her to have success against some of the league’s top perimeter playmakers. The fifth year guard also showed marked improvement in her passing as she transitioned into the point guard position in 2023, which in turn saw her blossom into one of the unquestioned leaders of the Cobras locker room.

Joining rising stars Nikita Young and Georgia Booth, Haberfield adds to new head coach, Mark Watkins, backcourt core, and figures to play a key role in leading a young, exciting Cobras team for the season ahead.
