The Under 12/3, 12/4 Girls both took home Bronze medals in their Regional Finals; a great result for many playing their first season of representative basketball. The Boys won in less than ideal circumstances – the beneficiary of a Chelsea walkover – while the Girls cruised to a 42-21 win over Knox 6. The U12/5 Boys weren’t so lucky, falling in a tight one to Port Phillip, 27-31. The U14/3 Girls fell short in their Regional Gold Medal game against Mornington 1, 25-40, to claim Silver.

The National Junior Classic champion 12/1 Boys suffered a shock exit in their Preliminary Final, finding themselves on the wrong side of a 41-43 thriller against Nunawading. Incredibly, Friday night’s loss was the first in 2016 for the Boys, who had not dropped a game through grading, preseason, regular season and tournament play.

Looking to take out the Under 18 VJL1 crown, the U18/1 Girls dropped a heartbreaking 34-36 loss to Eltham at the State Basketball Centre.

Finally, the U18/1 Boys secured a berth in the Victorian Championship Grand Final after defeating Geelong, 87-54, at MSAC. The Boys will square-off against Dandenong in the Final on Friday night, which will be played at the State Basketball Centre at 8.30pm (Court 1).
