Atrium Sports and Kilsyth Basketball win Best Use of Technology at the SPIA Awards for their innovative pilot scheme of the FIBA Connected Stadium project.
SPIA Asia – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards & Conference, held its fifth edition at the
Grand Hyatt Manila in Bonifacio Global City Philippines on December 2 and 3, 2019. The event brings together professional sports men and women as well as key players from within the business of sport.
Atrium Sports came away as winners in the Best Use of Technology category of the awards for its work with Kilsyth Basketball in piloting an innovative FIBA Connected Stadium scheme. The project used smart technology including AI-powered Keemotion cameras to automate the production of live basketball games.
The project was a stunning success receiving excellent feedback from Kilsyth Association, league (NBL1) and fans. Kilsyth have streamed over 100 live games including Basketball Australia U14 National Club Championships, NBL1 Games, Big V Victorian Youth Championship, VJBL junior games and National Wheelchair matches.
The ultimate success was that the technology has since been recognised by FIBA, the world governing body for basketball who have entered into a partnership with Atrium Sports to roll this opportunity out to member National Federations. The technology stack has since become the FIBA Connected Stadium following the partnership announcement in August of 2019.
